Our mission is to give McFarland area children the opportunity to learn the game of hockey in an affordable, fun, and safe environment where they'll build character and self-esteem as they compete, succeed and fail in a supportive environment.

2020-2021 Pre-Registration

Pre-registration is now open for the 2020-21 McFarland Youth Hockey season. Please click here to register.

Your only cost at this time is the required membership fee to USA Hockey. You'll receive a membership number, which is required for MYHA's registration process, and provides insurance coverage to your skater.

By pre-registering your skater(s), our board of directors and coaches will have a better idea of how many players to expect at each age level this season.

Payments and Refunds:

  • You will receive an invoice for your first-half dues and mandatory fundraiser. You'll need to pay that invoice before the first practice of the season to be formally registered.
  • We are also offering a "No Questions Asked" refund policy. Parents can receive a 50% refund on their first-half dues if for any reason you do not want your child to continue participating in hockey. You must request that refund within 30 days after the first practice of the season.
  • Refunds will also be provided to families if the season is suspended or canceled due to COVID-19.

Tentative Time Table:
We all understand that things are continually changing due to the outbreak. With that said, here is the tentative schedule for the start of the season:

  • Registration / Dues and mandatory fundraiser payments by September 28
  • Knock the Rust Off practice sessions: September 28 - October 2
  • Team Placement: October 5 - 9
  • Team practices begin October 12

More Details to Come:
Based on feedback from our pre-season survey, as well as rules and guidance from Public Health Madison-Dane County, Wisconsin Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control, the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association, and other teams in our region, MYHA is currently drafting procedures for Knock the Rust Off, Placement, and Practice sessions. We will share those procedures with you as soon as they are approved by the MYHA board of directors. We also plan to hold at least one virtual "Town Hall" to go over those procedures and answer any questions regarding the season.

Safety is our #1 priority:
Our #1 priority is the safety of our players, our coaches, our families, and our community. Your concern for safety also came through clearly in our pre-season survey. We will do everything we can to provide the safest environment possible for your skaters.

We are so grateful to have you and your family as part of MYHA this year and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work together to navigate this very difficult time.

Thank you,
MYHA Board

McFarland Youth Hockey News - June 2020

Pond Hockey: The results of our recent poll shows overwhelming support for MYHA to offer Pond Hockey if Dane County Health Department rules allow. The agency's "Forward Dane" gives us and others the ability to play contact sports when we enter Phase 3 of the plan. Dane County recently moved to Phase 2. If there are no delays, we should be in Phase 3 and have Pond Hockey sessions starting Tuesday, July 7th, and each following Tuesdays through mid-August. If there is a delay in the phases, we will move our start date back accordingly. As we did last year, registration and payments will be handled through Sign-Up Genius. Different this year, we will have weekly registration only, so we can quickly suspend Pond Hockey games and avoid refunds if conditions change. We'll have more information on that process and the COVID-19 restrictions affecting how players enter the building, etc., in the coming days.

We are also looking for a Pond Hockey Coordinator. Duties would include attending all Pond Hockey sessions to make sure all parents and skaters are following Pond Hockey and rink rules. The coordinator would also schedule coaches for on-ice duties. Please contact TJ Vosberg if interested.

Registration for the 2020-21 season: We will start online registration of players around July 15. Due to the uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic, we will only require you to pay the USA Hockey registration fee for each player. All other fees and dues will be determined and paid at the start of the season. As of now, we are not planning any increases in dues or mandatory fundraiser fees:

Service Hours
U 14 - Bantam $800 $300 20
U12 - Peewee $750 $300 20
U10 - Squirt $650 $300 20
U8 - Mite $400 $200 20
U6 - Mite $300 $200 20

However, if the start of the season is delayed, these numbers may be reduced accordingly. There is also the possibility that some of these fees would be refunded if the season ends earlier than planned.
